Paris Museum Pass

Seeing all of the museum's in Paris may seem like a huge task and not to mention expensive.  Let me tell you what saved us not only money, but time.  I have mentioned it in a few of my blogs, but I want to go into detail about this little book.

The Paris Museum Pass.

This little book may look small, however, it really has so much to it.  You see that 2 in the left corner?  This pass comes in a few different options a 2, 4, or 6 day.  We decided to get the 2 day.  It was perfect for what we wanted to see and the time we knew that we would spend in each location.

You have a few different ways you can buy it.  Online, airports, or in Paris at various locations.  If you buy online you can have it shipped to you for a price and it may take a few extra days to get to you.  You can also have it sent to your hotel and it will be waiting for you when you get there.  When you fly into either Charles de Gaulle or Orly in Paris after you pick up your luggage you can buy the pass there too.  The only bad part about getting them at the airports is that the lines are long.  If you don't want to wait in line the best thing and the easiest, in my opinion is buying the pass at a location in Paris.  We bought ours at the Army Museum and didn't have to wait in line and it didn't cost any extra.

The prices vary.  For the 2 day pass it is 48 Euros, 4 day pass is 62 Euros, and for the 6 day pass it is 74 Euros.  You must use the pass consecutive days, for example if you get the 2 day pass on the 3rd of the month you write the 3rd in the date slot then you have to use it the 3rd and the 4th.  You can not jump dates and use it on the 3rd and 5th.  Understand?  At the end of the second day on the 2 day pass it will expire.  So plan what you want to see, look at the pass and see if you can see everything in the amount of time that you are there.
On the inside of the book it will give you a map of where all of the monuments and museums the pass covers, when each of those places open and close, an address, and information about what that location offers.

For example:  The Arc De Triomphe is on the list.  It will tell you the website, phone number, address, and that it is a symbol of Napoleon's achievements and that it gives panorama views of the Champs-Elyees and most of Paris.

The book includes 55 other locations that you will be able to see free of charge and you will be able to skip the line.  This pass is also good for the Chateaux de Versailles and Trianon.  This isn't in Paris, but in Versailles and well worth the trip to see.

There are a few places that we went that the pass did not cover, the Eiffel Tower and the Catacombs are not included.  However, I knew this going into our trip and planned around that and it was no problem at all.  In the long run if you visit 4 or 5 places on the list you are still going to save money.

One of the best parts about the book is that on the inside it gives you all of the information that you will need for the trip.  I would definitely buy this little book of wonderful again!

It not only saves time, it saves money, and you can skip a lot of the lines if there is one.  We never saw a line, but it was nice to have the option if there was one.
