Comfort

Comfort on a flight that isn't business or first class?
Can that be real?
What is the catch?
Is it really worth it?

These questions all came to my mind when I knew that I would be taking a 7 1/2 hour flight.  For those of you who are like me that aren't made of money will most likely never see the part of the plane with the seats that lay flat, unless you walk by them while boarding.  Delta has a new class called Comfort +.  You get free drinks, 4 inches of more leg room, 50% more recline, and you get to board somewhat first, but you have to pay.

All of my questions came out, but mostly the last one.  Would it actually be worth it to spend a little extra to get those perks when really all we would be getting is the space?  To answer all of those questions....yes it is worth it.

I am a small person.  Been the same size since I was in 5th grade and still look the same.  My husband, well he is two of me put together.  I thought about him sitting in the regular Economy and how cramped he is when flying.  So, I spent the money and BAM there we were.  Sky boarding and one of the first two dozen to board.  While that may not seem like something it really is.  You can get to your seat, put your luggage away, relax, and see what you are going to have to eat.

When you first sit down you can't really tell a difference, but when you stretch your legs out and don't hit the seat in front of you; the right decision was made.

My legs are fully extended and still have more than enough room to move.

The flight itself was rough.  The drink service was done at the very beginning.  Starting the night off with some Scotch and Ginger Ale, peanuts, and pretzels.  No cookies this time, which made me sad, but I can't have it all.  Halfway into the drink service things started to get rough.  The seat-belt sign was turned on and didn't come off for most of the flight.  I don't know if it is all airplane food or just on this flight, but it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.  They gave you three options: Chicken with potatoes and corn, shrimp salad, or vegetable lasagna.  My whole row went with the chicken.  It wasn't bad, but be warned now, the chicken is Cordon Blu style and stuffed with cheese and broccoli.  The corn had some type of season on it and the potatoes were just shy of paste, but you put salt and pepper on it and you won't be able to tell the difference..  The meal came with a side salad, light ranch dressing, a chocolate brownie (the best part of the meal), cheese, crackers, and a dinner roll with butter.

Entertainment was not lacking on this flight.  I was able to watch a movie and half before I went to sleep.  I woke up with about an hour to go and just in time for Breakfast! It was a cold breakfast, which I did not eat since I couldn't have most of it.  However, they did have those cookies that I love so much!!

The best part about the flight was the view.  There is nothing like waking up to the view of clouds and a perfect sunrise.  This made the whole flight worth it.

Overall the flight wasn't terrible.  You always will get put beside someone that may not be your cup of tea, but that is only a small part of the trip.  Being comfortable enough to sleep and stretch out, my advice is pay the extra money and you will not regret it.

There are more perks to the upgrade.  Check in tomorrow to see the official Day 1 in Paris.
